Two cars crash near Matamata

Traffic disruptions are likely following a highway crash near Matamata.

A police spokeswoman said the two-car crash was reported on Tauranga Rd (State Highway 24) between Te Poi Rd and Davidson Rd at 6.38am.

Fire and ambulance were also called to the scene.

Fire and Emergency northern communications shift manager Colin Underdown said while the crash was initially reported as involving three cars, firefighters at the scene had counted two.

He said no one had been trapped and firefighters were helping with traffic management.
