A truck carrying concrete slabs overturned on State Highway 2 this morning, closing the road for about four hours.
One lane of SH2 is now open and stop/go traffic management is in place. Both lanes are expected to be open by 3pm today, the NZ Transport Agency said.
The highway through the Karangahake Gorge has been closed while a crane rights the truck, which crashed about 5.30am near School Rd.
A detour via State Highway 26, State Highway25A, State Highways 25 back onto State Highway 2 is in place, however it will add approximately an hour to normal travel time through the Karangahake Gorge.
