Three dead, multiple injured in crashes around the North Island

Three people have died and 10 people have been injured in four separate crashes around the North Island.

One person has died and three others injured in a serious crash in Northland around 9pm on Friday.

The single-car incident occurred on Kokopu Rd, near the intersection of State Highway 15.

Two others are in a serious condition, meanwhile, the third person sustained moderate injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.

Meanwhile, a single-car crash near Masterton on Friday evening also resulted in the death of one person.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Upper Waingawa Rd around 6.20pm. Three other people in the car were injured in the crash.

A rescue helicopter was called to the scene.

Elsewhere, another person has died after a serious crash on State Highway 2 in the Eastern Bay of Plenty near Whakatane.

The crash between a car and a ute took place about 4.40pm on Friday at the intersection of Bell Rd and SH2 near Nukuhou, east of Whakatane. One person was killed while three other people were taken to hospital with various injuries.

Diversions were in place while the Serious Crash Unit investigated the scene.

Soon after, in Auckland, a person was hit by a car in Mt Roskill.

A police spokeswoman said they were called to Hillsborough Rd about 6.40pm after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

The person was reported to be conscious and breathing. She did not have information on what injuries the person had.
