Speed radar detection devices have been the target of a spate of thefts in the Western Bay of Plenty, say police.
Acting Inspector Phil Gilbanks said there had been a "dramatic" increase in speed radar detection devices being stolen from vehicles parked on streets and in car parks across theWestern Bay.
"Offenders are breaking vehicle windows to gain access and are targeting these items as they are often left clearly visible attached to the windscreen or dashboard of the vehicle," Gilbanks said.
Gilbanks said offenders were targeting vehicles during the day and night and were "quite brazen in their activities".
"Police ask that owners of radar detection devices place the item out of sight and/or remove them from the vehicle when the vehicle is not in use."
Gilbanks said thieves wore high visibility clothing in an attempt to appear legitimate in their activities.
Police would like to hear from anyone that observes any suspicious activity to call 111.
