A street brawl in Lyn Grove, what will be included in Bayfair Shopping Centre's $115 million development and a tribute to a car crash victim were among this week's most read stories.


1. Chaos in Papamoa: Reports of gunshots and person hit by car

Police were called to a street brawl at Lyn Grove in Papamoa on December 10 after reports of gunshots and at least one person hit by a car.
Papamoa residents were left picking over the damage the following day and a 54-year-old woman struck by a car during the fight said she was trying to defend her children.

2. Police arrest man after stabbing at Mount Maunganui

Police arrested a man after a woman was stabbed in Mount Maunganui.
The woman was stabbed in Nikau Cres shortly before 6.30pm on December 13.
Police said a woman had received "moderate" injuries and a knife had been found.

3. Fifty stores, cinema complex included in Bayfair's $115 million redevelopment

Bayfair Shopping Centre's $115 million development will include 50 speciality stores, including a strong fashion mix, an alfresco dining precinct, a large cinema complex with seven screens and more than 1300 seats, and a new Countdown supermarket.

4. Pair rescued after car tips over bank into water at Pilot Bay in Mount Maunganui

One person was taken to hospital in a serious condition after a car was driven into the water at Pilot Bay, Mount Maunganui, on December 10.
The accident happened about midday alongside Salisbury Wharf, near the intersection of The Mall and Salisbury Ave.

5. Crash victim's boss made it easier for family to grieve

When the family of Papamoa man Adrian Carlisle Hetet were dealing with his tragic death, they found some solace in seeing how much he was loved by those who knew him.
Hetet, 43, died in a car crash near the intersection with Omanawa Rd in the Kaimais on October 28. He had been travelling back from Putaruru with his wife and 10-year-old son.
