It's been a busy week across the Bay, with school holidays now in full swing.
I love seeing what our kids have been getting up to in their breaks from school and teachers. Though just because it's the holidays doesn't mean the learning has stopped - far from it! Youcan see some of what they've been up to on page 4 this week.
And while our kids aren't sitting in a classroom, they're still learning new skills, discovering the world around them and making the most of each day. That's exactly the kind of attitude we want future Bay residents to have.
We are a city filled with curious citizens, people who not only want the best, but are willing to set any selfconsciousness aside in order to achieve it. Speaking of setting dignity aside, I also attended one of The Dust Palace's circus skills workshops on Monday.
You can read more about it on page 6. Suffice to say it was hard work, but huge fun.
This week is also my last at Bay News. I'm headed in a new direction, though not a surprising one for anyone who knows me well. I'm off to work for my favourite Bay-based high fashion shoe company - it's a dream come true. I've always loved shoes, even named my cat after them, so I'm super-excited about this new phase in my career.
That said, I am sad to be leaving Bay News. It has been such a delight meeting you all and telling your stories over the past 18 months. Tauranga is an incredible city, filled with incredible people, a fact I'm sure I'll continue to be reminded of each week when I pick up Bay News. Thanks for reading.
