Tauranga MP Sam Uffindell outside his new office.

Tauranga MP Sam Uffindell says he is backing Tauranga’s CBD and has moved his electorate office to 14 Grey St.

“It’s hard to miss the office, which is accessible from Grey St and through the Spring St Arcade,” Uffindell said.

“I couldn’t be more proud to be located in the heart of our great city.

“It’s great being more accessible to people and having more opportunity to walk around and talk to people and businesses and see how they’re doing.”

Uffindell said it had been a tough period for businesses with construction works, the removal of car parks and the recessionary economy.

“However, things are starting to pop up around town, interest rates are coming down and we hope that will increase confidence and local spending.”

He said people should refrain from criticising the CBD.

“They will eat their words a few years from now.

“Tauranga will be one of the best boutique CBDs around and something we’ll all be incredibly proud of.”

Uffindell said the CBD was going to be an amazing place “once it all comes to life”.

“I’m stoked to be in the heart of our city and encourage everyone to come into town, say hi and back our local economy.”
