Mark Arundel, Pete Blackwell and Tina Jennen have been elected as trustees to the Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust.

The election result was formally declared this afternoon.

Arundel, a pharmacy owner and Bay of Plenty District Health Board member, had the most votes with 4550 compared to retired detective Blackwell's 3135, who had sought re-election to the trust.

Jennen, a chief financial officer and survivor of a terrible car crash, had 2179, pipping Graeme Purches (2143), Bev Edlin (2141) and Sheldon Nesdale (2139) at the post.

In all just under a quarter of eligible voters took part in the election, with 11931 votes cast.
