Tickets for the much anticipated return of top class rugby to the Tauranga Domain will go on sale to the public from Tuesday July 7.

The clash between Bay of Plenty Steamers and Waikato on Sunday August 30 will be an opportunity for supporters to be a part of a unique experience and at the same time relive the days of old.

The rugby is part of a day's activities involving the downtown waterfront area.

Tickets for the afternoon fixture will be available starting with pre-sales for official Bay of Plenty Rugby Union supporters on Monday July 6 with public sales beginning the next day at 9am.

Only over-the-counter sales will be available that day at Baycourt Ticketek box-office, before sales open at all Ticketek outlets, on-line and phone bookings on Wednesday July 8.
"We expect this game to attract significant interest and as a union we are encouraging supporters to act quickly once tickets are on sale to ensure they are not disappointed," said Bay of Plenty Rugby sales and relationships manager Craig Wilson.

"It has been a big exercise sourcing enough temporary seating from outside the region, but it's all coming together very nicely. The feedback from local businesses wanting to support the union to make this game happen has been amazing too.
"In spite of the enormous costs involved in putting this on as a one-off event, we have been able to keep the ticket pricing to a pretty reasonable level."
Bay of Plenty Volcanix women's team will play the Waikato women's team in a Women's NPC fixture in the curtain-raiser.

Bay of Plenty's Pre-Season Draw:
Steamers Trial:
Rotorua International Stadium, Rotorua - Wednesday 17th June, 6.00pm
Wasps v Cavaliers: Moore Park, Katikati - Wednesday 24th June, 3.00pm
Steamers v Auckland: Rugby Park, Whakatane - Friday 31st July, 2.00pm
Steamers v Manawatu: Tauranga Domain, Tauranga - Thursday 6th August, 2.00pm
