Christmas arrived early in Tauranga today with the annual Santa Parade through the city.

Thousands lined Devonport Rd for the parade of singers, dancers, floats, and of course the big man in red.

Organisations, teams and businesses from across Tauranga took part, providing an entertaining half hour.

People braved a short patch of rain during the parade and spirits were high.

Tauranga's Filipino Club created an elaborate Nativity scene with the Virgin Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, the three wise men and even some camels.

Santa was a highlight as always, bringing up the rear of the parade in his sleigh with Mrs Clause by his side.

Mayor Stuart Crosby rode in a traditional car at the front of the parade waving and smiling at the crowd.

Even Elvis made an appearance on the back of a Lone Star truck.
