Otumoetai College swimmer Josh Pickett won the gold medal in the Senior Boys division at the Bay of Plenty Swimming Sports.

Otumoetai College swimmer Josh Pickett won the gold medal in the Senior Boys division at the Bay of Plenty Swimming Sports.

Otumoetai College was named top overall school at the Bay of Plenty Swimming Sports on Wednesday in Whakatane.

Tauranga Boys' College was second ahead of Aquinas College in third.

For the first time, Sport BOP presented gold medals for the winners in each individual division. Otumoetai College took home two of the six medals awarded form 15 competing schools with Ella Hoskin in the Junior Girls and Josh Pickett in the Senior Boys.

Tristan Eiselen from Tauranga Boys' won the Junior Boys, Lochlainn O'Connor from Aquinas the Intermediate Boys and Tauranga Girls' swimmers Ella Moor and

Ruby Matthews shared the Senior Girls title.

Otumoetai entered 16 swimmers with the relay team result confirming the school as champions. The Senior Boys and Junior Girls teams had two firsts each, Intermediate Girls two seconds and a third and fourth for the Senior Girls.

The overall team trophy was very tight with Otumoetai winning by three points from Tauranga Boys'.

1st Otumoetai College 69, 2nd Tauranga Boys' 66, 3rd Aquinas College 65, 4th Tauranga Girls' 58, 5th Bethlehem College 53, 6th Taupo Nui A Tia 42, 7th Whakatane H.S 36, 8th Tauhara College 31, 9th Trident H.S 31, 10th Rotorua Girls' H.S 15, 11th Western Heights 14, 12th Mount College, 13th Rotorua Lakes, 14th Papamoa College 5, 15th Rotorua Boys.

Individual gold medallists over 4 events:

Junior Girls 1st = Ella Hoskin Otumoetai, Emily Julian Whakatane HS
