Support has flooded in for Tauranga residents Liz and Ross Grant
Tauranga residents Liz and Ross Grant have been inundated with advice and support since their year-long plight to find a job was reported in yesterday's Bay of Plenty Times.
However, only one job possibility had come up.
The two had been living off savings and looking for jobs for ayear. Between them they had applied for about 150.
Mr and Mrs Grant, aged 62 and 60, feared their ages could be the main reason they were being overlooked and said prospective employers lost interest when they found out how old they were.
Healthcare of New Zealand had contacted them to say it was seeking applicants for community support worker vacancies and Mrs Grant said they would submit an application.
"It's still a work in progress but it's looking an awful lot better than it was yesterday."
