DRAWCARDS: Singing sensations Anika Moa (left) and Tali will perform at the last Dinner in the Domain for the season at Papamoa on Thursday.
Iconic New Zealand artists Anika Moa and Tali will jam at Dinner in the Domain next week with the gold coin entry fee being gifted toward Papamoa woman, Sarah Morrison's unfunded cancer treatment.
The 32-year-old shared her brave story about fighting bowel cancer last month in the Bay of PlentyTimes Weekend and had started a round of Cetuximab.
Her family and friends have rallied fundraising with proceeds going toward the treatment, which sparked Michelle Duffy and her husband Chris from Little Big Events to call in a few favours from their network of top musicians.
Sarah and her husband Brett were supporters of Dinner in the Domain, Ms Duffy said, so they thought it would be awesome to do something for the couple as the event celebrated its last evening for the season.
"When we spoke to Anika and Tali they did not hesitate, they both wanted to come and help. It just goes with everything that our values are ... to be able to give back."
"It has also been nice to wrap up how successful the summer season has been with a nice event that has direct value to the community."
Music was expected to start at 6.30pm with Anika showcasing her wealth of songs in a 45-minute set. The mother-of-three is a seasoned performer with a quick wit and was known for her banter and stories between songs.
Tali would take the stage next and was considered one of the most prolific female MC/freestylers to emerge from the electronic dance music scene. Her album Wolves, which she described as "full electronic soul and gangsta jazz", was due for release at the end of the month.
The pair had different styles so it was great they could play together, Ms Duffy said. Dinner in the Domain was set to become a calendar event, she said as locals had embraced the concept.
