Highway reopened after serious Christmas Day crash at Tapapa near Rotorua

One of the main highways leading into Rotorua has reopened after being blocked by a serious crash at Christmas.

Police said emergency services responded to a crash on State Highway 5 near Waiohotu Rd, Tapapa.

The crash was reported to police about 12.20pm yesterday.

A single vehicle collided with a power pole and the lines came down across the road, police said.

One person was reported to have moderate-to-serious injuries.

The road was blocked on both sides and motorists were advised to expect delays in the area.
