Metservice has issued a severe weather watch for Tauranga.

The watch was issued today for possible severe southwest winds through the day throughout the Western Bay of Plenty.

Tomorrow's forecast has the strongest winds arriving between 2pm and 4pm, where wind gusts are likely to near 50 kilometres an hour.

The high for tomorrow is 14C with a low of 7C overnight.
