A severe weather warning has been issued for the Bay of Plenty.
According to the Metservice, heavy rain Thursday morning is expected in the area, with around 130 to 160mm to fall.
It said the heaviest rain on Wednesday and Thursday is likely to affect Northland, Mt Taranaki, the CoromandelPeninsula, Bay of Plenty, Marlborough, Nelson, Buller and Westland.
