Sevens: Bay men through to quarter-finals at national sevens

The Bay of Plenty men's team have topped Pool B and qualified for the cup quarter-finals at the Bayleys National Sevens in Rotorua.

The Bay will face Northland tomorrow in their quarter-final match at 12.25pm at Rotorua International Stadium.

The other quarter-finals will see Taranaki play Counties Manukau, Auckland play Waikato and defending champions Wellington play Otago.

The Bayleys National Sevens are held over two days in Rotorua, with all the playoffs staged tomorrow.

The Bay men's team won all three of their pool games today.

Speedster Mason Walker was outstanding for the Bay all day, especially against Counties Manukau where he scored two tries in helping his team win 24-19. The Bay also defeated Canterbury 28-7 and South Canterbury 14-7.

The Bay women are also into the cup playoffs in the women's draw, and will play the equivalent of a quarter-final tomorrow against Counties Manukau at 10.05am.
