Papamoa Primary School players got up close and personal with the Chiefs big, friendly prop Ben Tameifuna at the highly successful 10-aside tournament run by Bay of Plenty Rugby at Paengaroa.

Rugby: The school was represented at the BOPRU Rugby 10s tournament by a team of boys who had an awesome day out at the Paengaroa Domain, playing four tough games and meeting a few of the mighty Chiefs.

Cross-country: Papamoa Primary came third in this year's Mount Cluster cross-country champs at Blake Park. Maya Carr-Manoit won the Year 5 girls event in a sprint finish. Harrison Leach, Corban Buxton and Kayleigh Belt all came home strong to qualify in the Year 6 boys and girls events. Ethan Millington and Jimmi Robbins both ran great races, to finish 3rd and 7th in the Year 5 boys. Congratulations to all nine athletes who qualified for the WBOP Cross-Country champs held yesterday at Waipuna.

Gymnastics: A big team of Papamoa Primary children competed at last week's Te Puke Gymnastics Club primary school competition. There were some exceptional performances in the boys and girls divisions, with multiple medallists.
