Just days out from the Gallagher Chiefs final regular season game against the Highlanders the contributions and achievements of the team were celebrated at the annual Chiefs Rugby Club Awards last evening in Hamilton.
Chiefs board and investors, sponsors, staff, players and their families gathered to celebrate 20 years ofChiefs Rugby and the achievements of the 2016 season.
Fittingly the six awards were collected by six different players, reflecting the teamwork that has become synonymous with this year's Gallagher Chiefs team in overcoming many hurdles to record 11 victories this season to date.
Veteran hooker Hika Elliot was honoured with a special presentation to acknowledge the significant milestone of reaching 100 games for the Chiefs against the BNZ Crusaders in Fiji.
The Chiefs focus now returns to their highly anticipated Kiwi derby against southern foes the Highlanders on Saturday evening in Dunedin.
With a place in the quarterfinals guaranteed for the Chiefs, the New Zealand Conference leaders must win in order to secure themselves the home advantage for their sudden death play off match.
