The Bethlehem Coachlines Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools division one match between hosts Opotiki College and Otumoetai College was called off with 23 minutes to play on Saturday due to repeated violent play by Opotiki.
Experienced referee Shane Forward had earlier issued a red card and two yellow cards toOpotiki players before deciding to call the game off with Otumoetai leading 29-5.
Otumoetai co-coach Richard Brown was disgusted with the approach shown against his players.
"There was a stomping and several dangerous actions throughout the game," he said.
"Shane sent four incident reports to the Bay Rugby Union and there will be some serious ramifications out of this fixture.
"I was very proud of the dignified and disciplined manner in which our players responded.
"They ignored dangerous actions of the opposition and focused on playing productive rugby and at the same time refusing to be intimidated.
"The referee is to be congratulated for his handling of this game. His management, control and communication was exceptional, ensuring the safety of players, which is paramount."
