Te Puke Sports coach Craig Jeffries has not forgotten the thumping Whakarewarewa handed them on their last trip to Rotorua.
"We are very aware of the hiding they gave us over there last year, and no doubt they will be trying to replicate that," Jeffries said. "Heading to Whaka is never an easy task, especially following Tauranga Sports. They will be hurting after their loss last weekend and will want to get back on track."
Meanwhile, the top of table clash in division one will hold plenty of interest. Unbeaten Kahukura host Arataki, who have just one loss this season, with both teams wanting promotion to the Premier division.
Arataki coach Marty Bourke says "it will be a good challenge for us given they are competition leaders and averaging about 34 points a game".
"It will be a good indicator if we are deserving of a spot in the top four or not. This year we have been going well enough but, as with any team, injuries and player availability are a real pain," Bourke said.
"We had a rough week with our life member and one-eyed supporter Sid Longley losing his wife after a battle with cancer, but that seems to have brought the group closer together, and puts why we play the game into perspective.
"Our focus for the weekend will be to test ourselves against the competition leaders who have made no secret of their desire to win that promotion spot. Regardless of the result, we need to play our style of rugby, and the key to winning away from home will be in our preparation".
