Rotorua man in intensive care after motorbike crash

One man remains in intensive care and one man is in a stable condition following a fiery motorbike crash in Te Puke yesterday morning.

A 49-year-old Rotorua man remains in intensive care in Tauranga Hospital, said communications manager Diana Marriott.

The other person, a 45-year-old Te Puke man, received moderate injuries and was in Tauranga Hospital in a stable condition, Marriott said.

A police media spokesperson said there is no indication as to the cause of the crash at this stage.

The crash happened at 11.20am and reportedly involved two motorbikes.

One motorbike caught fire following the crash.

The fire has now been extinguished.

One person has critical injuries, and one person has moderate injuries.

Diversions are in place and motorists are asked to take alternative routes where possible.
