An intimate night with the creator of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Richard O'Brien, is set to light up Mills Reef Winery and Restaurant later this month.
O'Brien is performing a one-man show to a limited audience at Mills Reef on Wednesday, February 24.
"I am going to ramble on and sing
a few songs and talk about anything really," said O'Brien, who played Riff Raff on stage and in the movie version of Rocky Horror.
"I'm probably going to talk about my life with a few anecdotes from showbiz. I like to call it 'frock and roll'."
The idea came about when O'Brien and his friend Derek Jacombs were talking about performing.
Derek suggested to his partner Janice Holdem, the restaurant and function manager at Mills Reef, that O'Brien should put on a show. And as they say, the rest is history.
Mr Jacombs will be playing his guitar alongside O'Brien. He will also be accompanied by local musicians Sonia Bullot, on the trumpet, and her husband, Grant, on harmonica, and other local musicians.
There are 60 tickets available for O'Brien's performance. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased from Mills Reef tasting room.
Proceeds from O'Brien's performance will go to Starship Children's Hospital.
