Three Bay of Plenty people received investitures at Government House yesterday and another three are set to be awarded theirs later in the week.
Dr Anthony (Tony) Townsend, of Whangamata, was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to health, Allan (Derek) Spratt, of TePuke, received a Queen's Service Medal for services to agriculture and Bruce Trask, of Tauranga, was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the environment and sport.

On Thursday Robyn Rosie, of Te Puke, will be made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to education while on Friday Susan (Sue) Baker Wilson, of Katikati, will receive a Queen's Service Medal for services to historical research and war commemoration and Susan Heath, of Tauranga, a Queen's Service Medal for services to foster care.
The Bay residents are among the likes of New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum and internationally recognised health researcher and the Prime Minister's chief science advisor Dr Peter Gluckman who are also receiving their awards this week.
