The annual competition for textile students to design, create and show off their fashions comes to Baycourt tonight.

Global Connexions provides real competition situations for aspiring young designers to get their work on the catwalk and receive merit for their efforts.

The competition is in its eleventh year and is open to soft material students across the Western Bay of Plenty.

Organising teachers are Julie Eagle, Lynne Sydenham and Jan Nicholson.

Students create outfits to fit a category - including circus, the Great Gatsby, evening wear, town, monochrome, clowns, movie inspired, summer, hooded and country and western. Art sections include patchwork, ribbons and lace and Maori legend.
