Powerlines are down after a crash in Welcome Bay, Tauranga.

A reader has sent in a photo of the lines down on Welcome Bay Rd, between Ranginui and Ngapeke Rds.

Police confirmed there was a single-vehicle crash at 10.35am.

“One person with moderate injuries, looks like the road is blocked and powerlines are down.”

Hato Hone St John said they responded to the crash with one ambulance.

“One patient, in moderate condition, is being transported to Tauranga Hospital,” a spokesperson said.

A power outage has also been reported in the area.

According to the Powerco website, 62 properties have been affected.
