Head of western Bay of Plenty road policing Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said the Bay was over-representing in crashes occurring at intersections and with the Christmas period fast approaching people needed to take extra care, he said.
"School holidays for some have started. The traffic volumes have increased and it is imperative that everybody takes the necessary care out there on our roads and focuses on their driving.
"A lot of our crashes relate to driver distraction and we are over-represented at intersections crashes. People need to take extra care when behind the wheel of a vehicle."
