Police continue to investigate the deaths of two people at an address on Old Coach Road in Pukehina.

In a statement today, police confirmed that the death of the woman was being treated as suspicious, and the death of the man as unexplained.

About 3pm on January 1, police were notified of a woman who had died at an address on Old Coach Road, Pukehina.

At 2.10am on January 2, police were made aware of a man who had been found dead in another house on the same property.

Stuff reported last week the two people who died were RSE workers from Vanuatu.

A 50-year-old man was due to reappear in the Tauranga District Court on January 30 on a charge of assaulting a person in a family relationship, Tauranga investigations manager Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Varnam said.

“Police continue to be focused on investigating the events that led to the deaths of the two people.”

Varnam asked anyone with information about what happened to contact police through 105, either online or over the phone, and reference file number: 260101/9901.
