Hundreds of people crowded into the Monmount Redoubt Reserve to watch a police dog and Armed Offenders Squad display.

The display was part of the Tauranga Police open day today.

Tours of the Monmouth St station and cell blocks were carried out throughout the morning and staff from a range of policing roles were on hand to give advice to anyone considering a police career.

There were also activities and giveaways for the children and a barbecue.
