Polar Bear Swim at Omanu Beach. Mount College leukemia fundraiser.

Hundreds of people clad in orange braved the chilly conditions to plunge into the sea this morning in memory of two boys who lost their fight to cancer.

The annual Polar Bear Plunge took place at Omanu Beach at 8am to help raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Mount Maunganui boys Jed Roberts and Harrison Mundy were diagnosed with cancer and were well known and loved through the Omanu Beach Surf Lifesaving Club and Mount Maunganui College communities.

The event is the third of its kind organised by the college, where Harrison's father Allan Mundy works.
