Northern Districts are in a strong position against Central Stags after reaching 378-4 at stumps on day two of the Plunket Shield match at Mount Maunganui's Bay Oval.

All the runs were scored today after day one was washed out. Tauranga's Bharat Popli (84) and Daniel Flynn (62) led the way for Northern, with Tim Seifert making 77 and Mount Maunganui resident Dean Brownlie 62. Black Caps test keeper BJ Watling is 55 not out.

Play gets under way tomorrow at 10.30am with two days to play. Free entry for spectators.
