Emergency services attend the crash at Te Puna Rd.

UPDATED 10:39am: Two people have minor injuries after a crash which left a car on its side with one person trapped in it.

Police Northern Communications Centre Inspector Shawn Rutene said two cars had collided on Te Puna Rd about 10.20am with one rolling on to its side.

Firefighters had to extricate a person from the car.

"Two persons were injured but they are both status four which means they are walking and maybe have a few cuts and bruises," Mr Rutene said.

"We do have concerns for one of the people who is in their 80s."

St John staff were checking the patients at the scene.

EARLIER: Emergency services are responding to a crash where a person is believed to be trapped.

The car has crashed on Te Puna Rd and is believed to be on its side.
