Two Bay men accused of carrying out a home invasion burglary at a Papamoa Beach property last month have elected to defend the allegation at a jury trial.

Kingi Ranapia, 35, of Mount Maunganui, who appeared in Tauranga District Court yesterday and his alleged co-offender Paul Toeke, 40, of Papamoa Beach - who was due back in court today - have denied a joint charge of aggravated burglary.

Police have alleged the pair were armed with a hammer when they invaded a Karewa Parade property on March 7.

Ranapia was further remanded in custody and he is due back in court on May 6 for a case review. Toeke is due to appear for a bail hearing.
