Three men charged in relation to a home invasion burglary attack in Whakamarama in December which resulted in a 50-year-old man losing an eye are heading to trial.

Carl Tremayne, 44, from Judea, Takatu Ahomiro, 38, of Te Puke and Jay Begueley, 24, of Tirau who all appeared in Tauranga District Court today have denied charges of aggravated burglary, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and injuring with intent to injure.

Police say that on December 22 last year Tremayne and three other masked persons forced their way into Plummers Point Rd home and assaulted the two male occupants aged 31 and 50.

The defendants are accused of being armed with a torch, a pinch bar and a set of knuckledusters.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a fourth man Tama Waitai, 27, of Judea who failed to turn up to court today for a case review hearing in relation to the same charges.
