Social Club members from Mount Maunganui firm Page Macrae Engineering have opened their hearts and donated $955 to the Tauranga Community Foodbank.
Page Macrae Engineering Social Club treasurer Pixie Holland said a $955 cheque and a couple of boxes of food items were handed over to theFoodbank two weeks ago.
"We've donated to the Tauranga Foodbank appeal for the past three-four years and this year 120-odd social club members decided to once again take up a collection.
Mr Holland said the Bay of Plenty Times Foodbank Christmas Appeal was a ''no-brainer'' when it came the chosen charity for staff to donate to.
"Myself and the other staff at Page Macrae know there some less fortunate people in our community, who have to go to the Foodbank just to put food on their table.
"That is why we do this and we try to give as much as we can to help people in the community who have fallen on hard times."
Staff members also donated another $400-$500 to the Red Cross Kaikoura Earthquake disaster appeal, Mr Holland said.
