Congratulations to all our students who received awards at the Otumoetai College Sports Awards last week. We had an impressive 225 individual students invited to the evening to be recognised with awards for their achievements in sport, with many of them receiving multiple awards.

Kudos to those who received blues and merit awards, a great achievement. There were 69 students receiving either of these awards, many for more than one sport. It just goes to show how much talent there is within our school. As always, the night finishes off recognising the top sporting students.

The 2015 Elite Sports Awards; Junior sports girl - Tymara Cox, Junior sports boy - Max Delaney, Single sports female - Kahla Tyson, Single sports male - Jack Neale, Senior sports girl - Kelcy Ballantyne and Senior sports boy - Isaiah Duncanson.

Volleyball: The Bay of Plenty Junior Volleyball kicked off in Tauranga the past week. We have nine teams in the BOP competition, five girls' and two boys' teams.

Our Junior A girls are in the top five, with the junior B and Year 9 A girls in the second five, an awesome result as the Year 9 girls have just begun proper volleyball rotation and training and they beat Tauranga Girls College junior A in the first weekend of games in a close three-set match.

In the boys our top team is in the first five in division one, and the other three teams in division two. Good luck to all these teams for all your games this Saturday.
