One person has died in a single-vehicle crash at Mount Maunganui.
Police say the crash, which was reported at 5pm on Sunday, happened northbound on SH2, in the area of the Sandhurst Drive on-ramp and Maunganui Rd.
Five further people were injured in the crash. One person with serious injuries,one person with moderate injuries, and three with minor injuries were taken to Tauranga Hospital.
The road reopened to traffic about 10.20pm following a scene examination and the recovery of the vehicle.
Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Rob Glencross said police would not be revealing the inital results from the serious crash investigation.
