There are a few things the Warriors have on their priority list to make the top eight.

Putting in consistent 80-minute performances has to be right up there.

Their inability to put sides away after being on top going into the second half of matches has hurt the team this season and frustrated their wider support base.

But last weekend's impressive performance against the Brisbane Broncos showed what this team is capable of. Sure the Broncos had six players out on State of Origin duty but such was the complete assurance and dominance shown by the Warriors the result may have been the same whoever was playing.

The Warriors notable spine of fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, stand-off Kieran Foran, halfback Shaun Johnson and hooker Issac Luke has been generating most of the post-game headlines.

But Bodene Thompson deserves plenty of credit for his game, particularly on defence shutting down many of the early Broncos raids.

After filling in various roles to cover injuries earlier in the season, the Tauranga born-and-raised Thompson is back in his favoured second-row position where he is obviously more comfortable.

Thompson, 28, says the 28-10 win was a huge boost to the whole club.

"Everyone individually done their roles and got the job done pretty much. We backed the process and what we train for every week.

"Me personally I'm happy but we took the learnings from it as there were a few things that went wrong, just awareness things. The main thing is to get a good roll-on in the next couple of weeks."

The right-edge defence has been a weakness at times this season for the Warriors, but Thompson made it personal against the Broncos to not let anyone through.

Thompson says every team changes tactics game to game, so he is never sure what he will face defensively until it happens.

"They might see something, so we don't know what's coming so it is an unpredictable environment.

"We work hard during the week to get it right, and it was good on the weekend."

The Warriors have an impressive five wins from six games at Mt Smart Stadium this season, but their form on the road is letting them down.

If they are to make the eight and play-off footie, they have to start winning in Australia - starting tonight against the Parramatta Eels in Sydney at ANZ Stadium.

It is just the second game at the former Olympic Stadium for the Warriors since playing against Manly in the 2011 NRL grand final.

Thompson knows the Australian environment well after playing for Gold Coast (2009-12) and Wests Tigers (2013-14).

He says it all comes down to having the same mindset away as they have at Mt Smart.

"We need to make sure we don't lose focus on what we are going there to do. We are not there for a holiday, we are there to get our job done.

"It is the spiky part of the business, and we just have to perform every time we are over there."
