New Zealand's biggest music festival has landed some big names for its first line-up announcement, released today.

Bay Dreams, set for Tauranga's Baypark Arena on January 2, includes hitmaker DJ Snake, drum'n'bass act Pendulum, and indie-pop group Foster the People.

It also includes underground rap acts $uicide Boys and Flatbush Zombies, Ocean Alley, Homebrew, Classixx, Sons of Zio and P-Money.

See the full line-up below.

Bay Dreams began in 2016 as a small-scale festival for just 6000, but that grew to 18,000 for this year's event.

Promoters say next year's will be even bigger, stretching to 22,000 - or possibly more.

That means the festival site has been rearranged to accommodate more people, and increased parking and camping options are being offered.

A second line-up announcement will be made in late August.

Tickets go on pre-sale next Wednesday, August 2, and are on general release from August 7, through the festival's website.
