ANZ today celebrated the opening of its brand new branch on Bethlehem Road, the eighth ANZ branch in Tauranga city.

The branch was declared open by Tauranga Deputy Mayor Kelvin Clout at a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning.

Students from the Te Wharekura o Mauao, Bethlehem, performed a welcome haka and a blessing of the branch was performed.

Fred Ohlsson, ANZ's managing director for retail and business banking, said the new branch was a vote of confidence in the future of Tauranga and would offer customers more choice on where to do their banking.

"Tauranga is one of the fastest growing cities in New Zealand and has established itself as one of the country's main centres for business, international trade and culture. It's also a fantastic place to live," Mr Ohlsson said.
