She hasn't got an agent, her feet aren't hairy ... and she's 83 years old.
Yet the stars were in Mollie Haines' eyes yesterday as the grandmother queued up with hundreds of other hopefuls auditioning for the part of an extra in The Hobbit at Tauranga's Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre.
"They mightthink I'm too old ... but I'm healthy and feel great," she said.
Mrs Haines had been egged on by her grandson, who instantly thought of her when he heard about the casting for the movie.
At 149 centimetres tall, Mrs Haines was also well under the strict 165cm limit set for female hobbits by casting company Three Foot Seven.
"My family all think I'm a shorty. I don't mind trying, I'll do anything for a laugh," she said with a chuckle.
"It's an adventure ... and I'd only be bored staying at home."
Further along in the queue, self-described "hobbit sisters" sisters Julie Sherriff and Sally Ponting felt they had what it took.
"We fit the criteria. We're both quirky. But it'll be an amazing experience just to come here," said Mrs Sheriff, an aqua instructor from Papamoa.
Matamata electrician Bren Frank was keen for an extra's part as, having worked as a lighting technician on the sets of big movies like Avatar, Wolverine and Superman, he knew what the job was all about.
"It's a lot of standing around, drinking cups of tea, yakking to people ... I don't mind that."
German seasonal worker Isabell Brandt, who made the trip over from Opotiki, thought landing a job in Sir Peter Jackson's movie would prove the perfect complement to her experience in the country.
"New Zealand and The Hobbit ... it'd just be great to be part of the movie."
Three Foot Seven casting director Victoria Beynon said the extras picked from yesterday's casting call would be used for the Hobbiton sequence of the movie, which will be shot in Matamata early next year.
"I think we've now got a pool of some really good looking hobbits.
"Peter's very particular about how everything looks and that's why he's an exceptional director. I think he'll be happy."
The successful hobbit hopefuls would be contacted before the end of the year.
