One of the tracks leading to Mauao's summit at Mount Maunganui will remain closed.
Work began on Monday to resurface two of the main walking tracks at Mauao, the Oruahine track and the Waikorire track.
Tauranga City Council has announced today the Waikorire track will now remain closed through toearly next week, weather depending.
The gravel from the resurfacing work has not compacted properly in the wet weather Tauranga has experienced in recent days.
However, the Oruahine track has now been reopened, providing access to the summit from the Main Beach entrance, with the 4WD track providing summit access from the Pilot Bay entrance. The base track also remains open and unaffected.
