A Mount Maunganui driver faces charges after allegedly blowing five times over the legal alcohol limit and crashing into other vehicles.
The 56-year-old woman was charged with drink driving and careless driving after an alleged incident at 11.30am on Friday, police said.
Police said they received a report of a
vehicle swerving over the road and hitting a pedestrian island on the corner of Marine Parade and Tweed Rd.
“A short time later, the vehicle reportedly rear-ended another at the traffic lights at the intersection of Oceanbeach Rd and Golf Rd.
“The driver allegedly recorded a breath alcohol reading nearly five times the legal limit, and has been suspended from driving for 28 days.”
