Motorcyclist dies after Tauranga crash

The man involved in a crash overnight in Tauranga has died.

The motorcyclist was travelling through the roundabout intersection of State Highway 36 and Takitimu Drive about 7.10pm when he crashed.

A police spokeswoman confirmed the man has since died.

"The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash at The Crossing, at the SH36/Takitimu Drive intersection.

"Police have identified the male but are not yet in a position to release his name."

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.

The man suffered critical injuries and was taken to Tauranga Hospital.
