Police were called to the scene of an alleged attempted robbery at Moto Revolution store on Waihi Rd after a store assistant was allegedly threatened by man armed with a wheel brace.

A police communications spokesperson said a 111 call came in at 4.20pm that an unknown man had allegedly threatened a staff member with a wheel brace.

The initial report related to an alleged attempt by the offender to steal a bike.

Three police patrol units were at the scene talking to the staff members and witnesses, and another until was patrolling the area trying to find the offender, the spokesperson said.

Two men were later arrested and will appear in court.
