Man on lilo swept out to sea

UPDATED 5.10pm: The person has now been brought back to shore.

BREAKING NEWS 4.46pm: Papamoa life guards and a kayaker are helping rescue a person swept out to sea on a lilo.

Police have confirmed they are currently dealing with a report of a person having been swept 200 to 300m from shore on a lilo.

A kayaker is slowly bringing the person back in, a police northern communications spokesman said.

An inflatable rescue boat has also been dispatched form the Papamoa Surf Life Saving Club.
