Police have released the name of the man who died in a crash on State Highway 2, near Whakamarama on Boxing Day.
He was Kevin Francis Keane, 70, from Timaru.
Mr Keane was driving towards Tauranga when the car collided with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
