A Western Bay of Plenty man appeared in the Registrar's Court at Tauranga today facing a charge of being an accessory after the fact to receiving stolen goods.

Aaron Robert Williamson, 40, was remanded on bail, without plea. The Whakamarama man will next appear in court on October 5.

Williamson was one of two Tauranga men arrested three days ago after police seized a truckload of beehives worth as much as $45,000 heading south near Kawakawa, Northland.

Officers found just over 50 hives on board along with empty beehive boxes and other equipment.

A 46-year-old had appeared in the Whangarei District Court earlier this week charged with burglary and five counts of receiving stolen property.
