Man, 84, hit by own car

An elderly man has been taken to Tauranga Hospital after being hit by his own rolling car in Greerton.

Sergeant Richard Martin said it appeared the man, 84, had forgotten to put on the handbrake before leaving his car in the Greerton McDonalds carpark.

As he walked around the car it began to roll and knocked him over, Mr Martin said.

Emergency services were called and he was transported to hospital without injuries but as a precaution.
