Masterchef series 5 contestants Karena (L) and Kasey Bird have made it to the final two.

Maketu sisters Kasey and Karena Bird have made it to the final two teams on this year's TVNZ's MasterChef competition.

The sisters will compete against friends Jaimie Stodler and Bec Stanley from Queenstown in a special two hour finale on Sunday.

The sisters have posted on their Facebook page that they had no idea they would make it to the finals and they planned to open a restaurant named Bird's in honour of their father's side of the family (Murupara Birds).

The finale will begin at 7.30pm on TV One.
